Disconnect Fees and Problems (345 reviews)
RUN FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!
“ This is by far the WORST company that I have ever encountered! They are a complete RIP OFF! I was with them for 3 years and the first 2 years they were great, however in 2018 they changed for the worse. I had prepaid electricity and I'm guessing that the company is struggling and so they are using the PP customers to rip off and try to keep afloat. I was paying $25.00 per day and EVERY morning, I'd get a disconnect notice stating my account was in the negative. I even started turning my breaker off at night just to see if I'd still be billed and sure enough, the next morning I'd have a disconnect. DO NOT..I repeat DO NOT use this company. The reps are rude, they barely speak english and you will go broke with them! I took a chance and applied for TXU and only had to pay a $50 deposit, plus I get free nights and my bill is nearly 75% less than what I was paying with this Rip off company! Take heed to all the bad reviews! ”

Dont get fooled by initial offer and huge hidden charges are there
“ Dont get fooled by low electricity bill. They have something called avg usage bill from previous year and that make you feel you are getting less electricity bill but at the end of the service they will send you huge adjustment bill. They keep you in dark about this until you disconnect the service. So unfair and wrong business practice. I would not recommend Ambit Energy to anyone. ”

Should have stayed with Reliant
“ Had spark about 2 months. I'm about a week late on one payment and they disconnected my electricity! This ridiculous s*** never happened with Reliant and I'm definitely switching back. Run far from Spark Energy cause they don't care about you or your family. ”

Horrible Billing
“ A poorly run company. They take forever to process payments and will very quickly send out disconnection notices. They refuse to allow direct bill payment from banks (wire payments) so if you use online bill pay your bank has to mail them a check. Direct Energy takes forever to process the payment and then sends out disconnect notices. We had this happen several times and despite proof from the bank that the check was mailed promptly to them, Direct refuses to admit they are slow to process payments and blames everyone else. Don't use them unless you want to get disconnection notices. ”
